So, rapper J. Cole recently announced the 2nd run of his "A Dollar and a Dream Tour", hitting select cities, where he'll be performing his "The Warm Up" mixtape in its entirety - to celebrate the 5 Year Anniversary of the project.
Out of the few cities, New York City is the closest one to me, in DC. When I got the bright idea to request photo access, it was in ample time to render the usual access granted or denied response. However, with this tour, the location is a secret, until hours before the concert starts.
I got the approval notice, to photograph the show, at 1:15pm today, the very day of the concert, but I'm still in DC - hours away. There's a very slight chance that I could, hurry and get dressed, hop a Acela train, and make it to NYC to shoot the show. However, I'd have to come right back to DC tonight, to finish packing, only to go back up to NYC tomorrow morning. Anthony Hamilton has a week full of shows, starting in New York tomorrow.
This pretty much sucks.
I definitely wanted to see this show, and shoot some photos. I absolutely love The Warm Up mixtape.
Best of luck to Cole on this run, and if I don't catch him on the road this tour, there will be others. If the tour comes to your city, go.
***turns up the volume on The Warm Up.
