Stay Strapped | Camera Straps and Stuff

Last night, I photographed an arena show, where superstars Tyga, Trey Songz, and Chris Brown were performing. Normally, when I shoot arena shows, I bring 2 camera bodies and 3 lenses. I do so because it's easier to maximize on the "First 3" songs access. Having only 1 body, and changing lenses will cause you to miss some shots.

Last night, when I opened my camera bag, I realized, I left my Black Rapid Double Strap at home. That's a must-have for arena shows and festivals. I was so pissed. I said some profane things. I said, "Filth flarn filth!" in front of people.

Not having it, meant that I had to work with just 1 one body, and change lenses as needed. That sucks at a show with a big stage, and performers that go from one side to the other during their show.

On top of that, I thought it was a bright idea to stuff my coat into my Lowepro Pro Runner 350 AW backpack, which caused the backpack to bulge, and made it extremely difficult to access my additional lenses. I was all messed up. At one point in the night, I was shooting with my Canon 5D Mark III, a 24-70mm f/2.8L mounted, with no camera strap, all while holding my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 in my left hand.

The struggle was beyond real.

When the "First 3" songs ended, I was so relieved, because I could pack my bag and go home. I'm never anxious to leave a concert, but last night, not having the camera strap really put me in a bind.
